Creator License

Version 1 · valid from 15 November 2026 · Deutsch

Summary

  • Use it on every server of your organization – even after leaving dzbot
  • Adapt it for your servers
  • Pass on, publish or sell the files
  • Use them on servers of others

1. Parties

The licensor is the creator offering the mod in the dzbot marketplace (the "Creator"). The Creator holds the rights to the mods they offer in the dzbot marketplace.

The licensee is the organization on dzbot that accepts this license ("you"). An organization is the group on dzbot that owns servers and is billed for them. Whoever accepts this license on dzbot does so on behalf of the organization and confirms that they are allowed to.

dzbot (Softwareentwicklung und -betrieb Patrick Siemen, Bielefeld, Germany) provides the text of this license and records, on behalf of the Creator, which organization accepted which version, when and through whom. dzbot is not a party to this license. Your use of dzbot itself is governed by the dzbot Terms of Service.

2. Subject

This license covers every mod the Creator offers in the dzbot marketplace, free or paid, that your organization installs or buys, in every version it receives through dzbot (the "Mods").

It applies to all files a Mod writes to your game servers when it is installed, updated or configured through dzbot, such as configuration, mission, object spawner, types and event files, and to all copies and adaptations of them (the "Files").

The values your organization enters in a Mod's settings remain yours. Content of the game DayZ belongs to Bohemia Interactive a.s.; this license grants no rights to it.

3. What you may do

The Creator grants your organization the non-exclusive, non-transferable right, unlimited in time and place, to:

  • use the Files on every game server your organization operates, including servers it adds later;
  • keep using them after the Mod was uninstalled, after the Creator removed it from the marketplace and after your organization or the Creator left dzbot;
  • adapt the Files for your organization's servers and use the adaptations there;
  • make the copies this needs, such as backups.

Your organization operates a server if it rents or runs the server and is responsible for it. A server of another community is not one of yours, even if you help administer it.

The members and admins of your organization and the provider hosting your servers (such as Nitrado) may access the Files as far as running the servers requires. Players seeing or using what a Mod adds in the game is not passing on the Files.

4. What you may not do

Without the Creator's prior written consent (an e-mail or a written message is enough), you may not:

  • pass on the Files or adaptations of them to anyone outside your organization;
  • publish them, for example on websites, in repositories, in the Steam Workshop, in forums or on Discord;
  • sell, rent or license them, or offer them, changed or unchanged, as your own mod, in the dzbot marketplace or anywhere else;
  • use them on servers your organization does not operate;
  • remove notices of the Creator's authorship or rights from the Files.

Rights the law grants you regardless of this license remain unaffected.

6. Duration

This license has no end date. It does not end when a Mod is uninstalled, when your organization's dzbot subscription ends, when the Creator removes a Mod from the marketplace, or when your organization or the Creator leaves dzbot. It only ends as described in section 9.

There is no claim to updates, to a Mod staying available in the marketplace or to support from the Creator.

7. Warranty

The Creator assures that they hold the rights needed to grant this license.

Free Mods are provided free of charge and as they are; for them the Creator is only responsible for defects they fraudulently concealed. For paid Mods the statutory warranty rights apply. Where your organization does not act as a consumer, the Creator does not warrant that a Mod works with every server setup, map or other mod, or suits a purpose beyond its description in the marketplace.

DayZ updates, changes by Bohemia Interactive or your hosting provider and other mods can change how a Mod behaves. Where the law gives consumers further rights, those rights apply.

8. Liability

The Creator is liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act and where they gave a guarantee.

For free Mods the Creator is not liable beyond that.

For paid Mods the Creator is also liable for slight negligence, but only for the breach of an obligation that makes the proper performance of this license possible in the first place and on which you may rely, and only up to the damage typical and foreseeable for a license of this kind. Otherwise, liability for slight negligence is excluded.

Back up your server files before you install or update a Mod. dzbot's own liability towards you is governed by the dzbot Terms of Service.

9. Breach

If your organization breaches section 4, this license ends for your organization with immediate effect, for all of the Creator's Mods. Your organization must then remove the Files and all adaptations from its servers and delete its copies of them. Purchases are not refunded. The Creator may in addition claim damages and every other right the law gives them, such as injunctive relief.

When the Creator asserts a breach, dzbot may give the Creator the record of your organization's acceptance (organization, person, time, version and text of the license) and present it to courts and authorities.

10. Changes

The Creator License is versioned. A new version applies to your organization once it is accepted on dzbot; dzbot asks for that before the next installation, update or new instance of one of the Creator's Mods. Until then, the version you accepted continues to apply to the Files you already received.

11. Final provisions

This license is governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If your organization acts as a consumer, the mandatory consumer protection of the country where it has its habitual residence remains unaffected.

If the parties are merchants, legal entities under public law or special funds under public law, or if one of them has no general place of jurisdiction in Germany, the exclusive place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising from this license is Bielefeld, Germany, the seat of dzbot.

If a provision of this license is invalid, the remaining provisions remain valid.
