Build your own DayZ bot — on dzbot

With an AI coding agent, a custom Discord bot or community website for your DayZ server is a weekend project. The part that takes months is the backend underneath: reading the Nitrado logs, knowing which player is which Discord user, wallets, a shop that delivers in game, tickets, alt detection. dzbot already is that backend — build your bot or site on top of it.

Short answer

dzbot is connected to your Nitrado DayZ server and already reads its logs and runs players, linked Discord and game accounts, alt detection, the wallet, the trader shop with delivery, tickets, factions, bounties and the kill feed. Your own bot or website uses all of that through the dzbot API: with an API key for your bot, with "Sign in with dzbot" for players on your website (they sign in and link their game account on your server's dzbot page), with signed webhooks and live events for everything that happens on the server, and with the TypeScript SDK @dzbot/sdk and a starter bot to begin from. You write only what makes your community different. The API is part of dzbot Pro, 10 EUR per server per month.

What you don't have to build

  • Log parsing: kills with weapon, distance and labels, deaths, hits, building, logins, placements — read from the Nitrado logs for you, on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch 2.
  • The Nitrado link: restarts, files, player lists and whitelists.
  • Who is who: players with their Discord account and their game accounts linked, alts detected and resolved to the main account.
  • Money: one wallet per player across your organization's servers, with every transaction booked.
  • A shop that delivers in game, tickets, factions, bounties, base alarms, events and leaderboards.

What you get to build on

  • The API: everything your dzbot server holds, read and changed with an API key that only reaches the rights you give it.
  • Sign in with dzbot: players sign in on your server's dzbot page, link their game account there if they haven't yet, and land back on your website — signed in, with their main account and their rights. Works even for a website without a backend of its own.
  • Webhooks: kills, orders, tickets and wallet transactions pushed to your bot, signed, retried when your bot is down.
  • Live events: the same events streamed into a browser, for a live kill feed on your site.
  • The TypeScript SDK @dzbot/sdk: one client for all of it, with every event typed.
  • A starter bot: discord.js, a /balance command, a kill feed from webhooks and Sign in with dzbot — ready to extend, with instructions for coding agents.

Building with Claude, Codex or another coding agent

Point your agent at developers.dzbot.de/llms.txt: every page of the developer docs as markdown, plus the OpenAPI spec and the event catalog. The starter bot carries an AGENTS.md that tells the agent what dzbot already does and how to build on it instead of next to it.

How to start

  1. 01Sign in at dzbot.de with Discord and connect the Nitrado account your DayZ server is rented with.
  2. 02In your server's admin area, open Developers and create an app: a key for your bot, webhooks for the events it reacts to, Sign in with dzbot for your website.
  3. 03Clone the starter bot, fill in its .env and run it — or hand the docs to your coding agent.

Your admins keep using dzbot

Your bot and your website are what your players see. Your team can keep working in dzbot's admin area and Discord bot — tickets, bans, refunds, the AI assistant — or you build that part yourself too. Both work on the same data.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need dzbot to build a DayZ Discord bot?

No, but without it your bot needs its own Nitrado integration, log parser, player database with account linking, wallets and shop before it does anything your community sees. On dzbot those exist already and your bot builds on them.

Does it work for PlayStation and Xbox servers?

Yes. dzbot works with Nitrado DayZ servers on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch 2, and so does everything built on it.

Can players log in to my own website with their game account?

Yes, with Sign in with dzbot. They sign in with Discord on your server's dzbot page, link their game account there and come back to your site signed in. Your site gets their player, their main account across alts and only the rights they confirmed.

How does my bot learn about kills and orders?

Through webhooks: dzbot sends every event your app may read to your bot, signed, and retries when your bot is down. Game events arrive once Nitrado has handed out the logs, usually within 5–15 minutes.

What does it cost?

The API, webhooks, Sign in with dzbot and live events are part of dzbot Pro — 10 EUR per server per month, with a free trial. The SDK and the starter bot are free and MIT licensed. Running a separate test server? Once you pay for one server, we make one test server free — just ask dzbot Support.
