Bounties concept

This page explains how bounties work in dzbot from a gameplay and operations perspective.

What a bounty is

A bounty is a paid objective placed on a target player.

  • The creator pays the full bounty amount immediately.
  • The bounty stays open until it is completed or canceled.
  • When completed, a configured payout share is paid to the eligible killer.

Bounties are part of the server economy and directly affect player balances. For the full money model, see Transactions concept.

Bounty lifecycle

Each bounty moves through one of three statuses:

  • Open: active and waiting for completion or cancellation
  • Completed: target was eliminated and payout was calculated
  • Cancelled: bounty was stopped and refunded to the creator

Completion and payout model

When an open bounty target is killed by a player with hitman access, the bounty is completed.

  • payout is calculated from the configured hitman cut percentage
  • payout goes to the killer
  • remaining amount stays as economy sink

Data freshness note: bounty-completion and target-position visibility rely on imported server logs and can appear with delay.

The payout percentage can be adjusted in the server settings.

Core configuration

Bounty behavior depends on two key economy settings:

  • minimum bounty amount
  • hitman payout percentage

If the server subscription is inactive or expired, bounty flows are not available.

Visibility and control model

Player-side visibility and actions depend on assigned rights:

  • regular players can manage their own bounty entries
  • hitman-enabled players can view open bounty listings
  • players with broader bounty control can cancel any open bounty

Admin operations (overview)

Admins can monitor and intervene from:

  • Server Admin -> Bounties

In this area, admins can review bounty history and refund open bounties (which cancels and refunds them).
