Server list & listing page

dzbot.de/servers is the public list of dzbot servers. Players search it by map, platform, activity and how a server plays (see Finding a server). Every server gets its own public page there, dzbot.de/servers/<subdomain>, which you design on the Listing page in the admin area.

The list is part of dzbot Free โ€” Free, trial and Pro servers are listed alike.

Who is listedโ€‹

Every dzbot server with a working Nitrado connection that has not opted out. A new server is on the list as soon as it is connected; there is nothing to sign up for. Servers that do not run dzbot are not on the list.

A server that only wants to be listed starts on dzbot Free: List your server on the server list leads to the guided start with dzbot Free already selected. A short setup wizard follows (name, address, your in-game name and the listing), and dzbot changes neither its files nor its player lists until you switch that on (see Getting started).

Measured and statedโ€‹

The list and the server page keep two kinds of information visibly apart.

Measured by dzbot โ€” from Nitrado, your game logs and your mission files:

  • map, platform (PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch) and slots
  • players online now, the players at prime time (how many are online at once on average during the 6 busiest hours of the day over the last 7 days), the most players at once and the number of different players in those 7 days โ€” refreshed every hour
  • how your server plays compared with vanilla DayZ (only while you share your loot settings publicly, see below)
  • the last wipe, the wipe history and the average time between wipes

Stated by your team โ€” whatever you enter on the Listing page: description, playstyle tags, languages, banner, a Discord invite link and your page. dzbot does not check what you state.

The Discord button on your page uses the invite link you enter. Without one, it appears once the dzbot bot is on your Discord, which then creates an invite.

The list is ordered by the players at prime time โ€” measured, not votes. A server that fills up every evening ranks by that evening, not by its empty mornings.

Why sharing your loot settings mattersโ€‹

The comparison with vanilla comes from your mission files, and only from a server that shares them with everyone: Settings โ†’ Map & Bases โ†’ Share loot settings set to Public (see Share loot settings).

While it is Public, dzbot shows how your server differs from vanilla โ€” always as rough levels such as "more" or "less", never the exact numbers from your files:

  • first or third person, crosshair, the light around the player, whether the map and compass need the item, logout time
  • the clock, the length of day and night
  • stamina, how fast sprinting drains it, the weight penalty
  • damage to bases and containers, building and placement checks
  • zombies, animals, vehicles, heli crashes, temperature (over the year; if your clock goes back to the same date on every restart, that month against the same month in vanilla)
  • loot overall and per kind of item (weapons, ammo, food, medical supplies โ€ฆ)

Players filter and compare servers by exactly these points. With Members only or Off, every one of them shows as unknown: your server drops out of every search that requires one of them, its page says the server does not share its settings, and it gets no new-server boost. Admins of your server see a banner on the public page that points to the setting.

New servers start with Public. A server set up before the server list existed keeps the value it had.

After a map change the comparison is empty until your mission files have been read again.

The Listing pageโ€‹

Navigation path:

  • Server Admin -> Content -> Listing

The page is available on dzbot Free and dzbot Pro. View public page opens your page on dzbot.de/servers.

What you can set:

  • Listed on dzbot.de/servers โ€” whether your server is on the list. It is the same switch as List on dzbot.de/servers on the settings page.
  • Short description โ€” up to 300 characters, in English and German. Shown on your card in the list and at the top of your page; visitors see their own language, otherwise your server's language.
  • Playstyle tags โ€” up to 5 of: PvP, PvE, PvPvE, Roleplay, Hardcore, Vanilla, Vanilla+, Modded, Deathmatch, Beginner friendly.
  • Languages โ€” up to 2 languages spoken on your server.
  • Banner โ€” an image you upload.
  • Page โ€” your own content, written with the same editor as custom pages, in English and German. Below it, dzbot adds the measured part, which you cannot edit.

Once your Discord server is connected, your page shows a Join Discord button. It leads to <your-subdomain>.dzbot.de/discord, so there is no invite to keep up to date.

What dzbot measured is shown read-only next to it: the activity numbers, whether a settings profile of your server exists and when your mission files were last read, and whether you share your loot settings, with a link to the setting.

Opting outโ€‹

Turn off Listed on dzbot.de/servers on the Listing page, or List on dzbot.de/servers in the settings. Your server leaves the list and its page goes offline; everything you entered stays saved for when you turn it on again. A server without a working Nitrado connection is not listed either way.

Fresh wipeโ€‹

A server whose last wipe was less than 14 days ago gets the Fresh wipe badge, and players can filter and sort by it.

The wipe is your Stats wipe date (Settings โ†’ Stats & Leaderboards, see Stats wipe date). Every new date counts as a wipe in your wipe history. The date cannot lie in the future, and setting it also resets your server's leaderboards and statistics โ€” so only move it when you really wiped.

New serversโ€‹

For its first 30 days on dzbot a server counts as New:

  • a New on dzbot row at the top of the list shows up to 6 new servers, picked at random on every visit
  • every 5th place in the list goes to a new server that matches the player's search

Only servers that share their loot settings publicly get this boost. The New badge and the filter for new servers show every new server.

Access rightsโ€‹

  • admin.listing.view (View the server list page) โ€” open the Listing page.
  • admin.listing.edit (Edit the server list page) โ€” change it.

Groups that could edit the server settings received both rights when the server list was introduced. Every change to the listing is recorded in the audit trail.
