What roulette addsโ€‹

Roulette is the only casino game on your server that players play together. There is one wheel per server, and everybody on that server sits at the same table: they see each other's names, each other's stakes on every field, the total pot on the table, and the same ball landing at the same moment.

It uses the American wheel โ€” 38 pockets, 0 and 00 โ€” which gives the house an edge of about 5.3 % on every bet except the five-number bet 0-00-1-2-3, where it is about 7.9 %.

The full board is available: single numbers, splits, streets, corners, six lines and the five-number bet, plus dozens, columns, red/black, even/odd and 1โ€“18/19โ€“36.

How a round runsโ€‹

The table sleeps while nobody has money on it. The wheel turns, but no round is running.

The first bet starts the clock:

StageLengthWhat happens
Bets open40 seconds by defaultPlayers place, move and take back stakes. The ball starts circling eight seconds before the end
No more betsโ€”The winning number is drawn and the whole round is settled at this moment
The ball7 secondsIt drops, bounces across the frets and comes to rest
Result7 secondsThe number is shown and the wheel parks it at the top

After that the table clears and goes back to sleep until somebody bets again.

Two consequences worth knowing:

  • The number does not exist while betting is open. It is drawn at the moment bets close, never earlier, so it cannot be read out of a response by somebody who is still allowed to bet.
  • The money moves when bets close, not when the ball stops. The fourteen seconds of ball and result are a performance over a result that is already settled. If a player closes their browser after betting, or the site restarts mid-spin, the round is still settled correctly and the winnings are still paid.

Moneyโ€‹

Stakes are taken once per round, not per chip. A player who puts eight chips on the table gets exactly two lines in their transaction history: one for the total stake, one for the winnings.

If a player's balance no longer covers their total stake when bets close โ€” for example because they bought something in the shop in another tab โ€” none of their bets play. They are told so, they are not charged, and the round continues normally for everybody else.

If the settlement itself fails โ€” a database giving up under load, say โ€” the round is retired with no number and marked as not played for everyone on it. Nobody is charged in that case either. This is a fault, and it is reported as one.

Settingsโ€‹

Server Admin -> Settings -> Economy:

SettingMeaningDefault
Roulette minimum betSmallest amount per single bet. Also drives the quick-amount buttons players see100
Roulette maximum bet on a number fieldCap per field for single numbers, splits, streets, corners, six lines and the five-number bet2000
Roulette maximum bet on a large fieldCap per field for dozens, columns, red/black, even/odd and 1โ€“18/19โ€“3610000
Roulette daily limit per playerTotal a player may stake per day, 0 turns it off0
Roulette betting secondsLength of the betting window, between 25 and 9040

Why there are two maximums. A single number pays 35:1. The same cap that pays out 10,000 on red would pay out 360,000 on a straight-up number, so number fields and large fields need separate limits.

The quick-amount buttons are derived from the minimum bet โ€” one, two, five, ten, twenty and fifty times it โ€” so a server with a large economy automatically gets sensible buttons without configuring anything.

Limits apply per field and per player, not per round. A player may cover the whole board if they want; at a 5.3 % house edge that is a reliable way to lose money.

Accessโ€‹

Roulette is controlled by one player right:

  • player.casino.access_roulette

Groups that have the casino.access bundle receive it automatically. Groups with individually listed rights do not โ€” they must be granted it explicitly, or their players will not see the table.

There is no separate on/off switch. A table nobody can reach is simply never woken up.

What operators should expect to seeโ€‹

  • Server Admin -> Dashboard -> casino panel shows rounds played, the net effect on player balances and the most active players.
  • Roulette stakes and winnings count towards the casino leaderboards.
  • Every stake and every payout appears in the player's transaction history, labelled with the round number.
