Connect AI apps (MCP)
AI apps such as Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop) or ChatGPT can work with dzbot directly. They connect over MCP, an open standard for giving AI apps tools, and get the same tools the AI Companion uses: find players, search the logs, read tickets, ban, book, reply and so on.
The difference to the Companion: you talk to the AI app you already use, and that app brings its own model. Working with dzbot over MCP costs no AI credit.
Connecting an appโ
- In your AI app, add
https://mcp.dzbot.deas a custom MCP server. Any name works, for exampledzbot:- ChatGPT:
PluginsโAddโAdd custom MCP server. Enter the name and the address, leave the authentication atOAuth, confirm the risk notice and clickCreate as a plugin. Then clickConnecton the new plugin. - Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop):
CustomizeโConnectorsโAddโAdd custom connector. Enter the name and the address, clickAddand thenConnect. - Other apps: add the address wherever the app lets you add an MCP server.
- ChatGPT:
- The app opens a browser window to dzbot. Log in with Discord if you are not logged in yet.
- A page asks: "<App> wants to access dzbot". Choose:
- Read only โ look at players, logs, tickets, the economy and everything else you may see. Nothing is changed.
- Read and write โ also act: ban, book, reply, change settings.
- Click Allow access. You are sent back to the app, which can now use dzbot.
The address is also shown on your Profile under Connected apps, ready to copy.
Only your own login can connect an app โ not a login link and not an impersonation.
If the option to add your own server is greyed out, the administrator of your company or team account has switched it off. Ask them to allow it, or connect from a personal account.
What the app may doโ
- Every server you have access to, with exactly your rights โ never more. Whatever you could not do in the admin panel, the app cannot do either.
- Changes run immediately. With Read and write there are no Companion approval cards: what the app asks for is carried out in dzbot right away. Most apps ask you before they use a tool, so read that confirmation before you allow it.
- Everything is on record. Every change appears in the Audit trail under your name, marked via MCP.
- Limit: 100 tool calls per minute per user.
Choosing a serverโ
The app first looks up which servers you have access to. If you manage several servers, just tell it by name which one you mean. Internally the app addresses each server by a short code of four characters, but it talks to you in server names. Organization admins see each server's code in the organization's server overview (Organization โ Servers).
Fewer tools: toolsetsโ
dzbot offers the app more than 200 tools. Some apps keep the description of every tool in the conversation, which uses up a large part of the model's context before you have asked anything. If you only need part of dzbot, connect with a narrower address:
https://mcp.dzbot.de/?toolsets=tickets,players,moderation
The app then only gets the tools of these toolsets โ usually a tenth of the full set. Looking up players, the documentation and the topic guides are always included. Choosing Read only when connecting also leaves out every tool that changes something.
| Toolset | Covers |
|---|---|
players | Player profiles, notes, wallet, whitelist, linked accounts, gifts |
moderation | Bans and other restrictions, reviews, game logs and log requests, audit trail |
tickets | Tickets, ticket categories and support levels |
factions | Factions, members, faction notes and treasury |
world | Bases, base alarms, zones |
economy | Shop, orders, coupons, wheel of fortune, bets, bounties, subscriptions, referrals, transactions, leaderboards |
events | Events and achievements |
automation | Actions and the scheduler |
mods | Marketplace mods and custom mods |
server | Server settings and rules, custom pages, Discord, dashboard, access groups |
organization | Organization players, rights and settings, accounting |
If the app misses a tool, it tells you which toolset to add. Without ?toolsets= the app gets every tool.
Managing connectionsโ
Your Profile lists every connected app under Connected apps: whether it may read only or read and write, when it was connected and when it was last used. Disconnect cuts an app off at any time.
A connection stays signed in for up to 30 days without use. After that, the app asks you to connect again.
